Wario Land, issue 1, page 1

It's funny I label this as page 1, given there was never a page 2.

Unfortunately, this is an old scan that seems to have become corrupt near the bottom. If I ever find the original, I'll try to rescan it and post it here.

I learned by the third panel that Wario can be difficult to draw from the side if you've only ever seen him from the front.

But basically, this picks up right at the end of Super Mario Land 2, where Wario is booted from Mario's castle.

Given the simplistic premise most Mario games have, I think the pacing on this works fairly well to recap and get things going. Wario gets kicked out, swears revenge, and moves on to Plan B(on his notepad at the bottom), which is to steal pirate treasure so he can build his own place.

The last panel is Wario in the same rowboat that you see him in for the intro of Wario Land, shame it was cut off.

Given the lack of turnarounds, I think Wario came out pretty well in that bottom left panel, and not too shabby on the right-middle, albeit perhaps woefully underweight.
